Magical midnight sun in Disko Bay, Greenland

Have you ever met someone who has been to Greenland?

Before going on this trip, the only person I knew who visited this magnificent island was the photographer who was leading this trip!

I was always curious about Greenland and all those crazy icebergs. When I got more into photography and saw some photos, Greenland climbed a lot higher on my visit list. I just always told myself I’ll go there ‘later’. I guess everything just fell into place, and later happened in mid/late July 2024.

While I have been to Oslo in the summer (in 2009) and experienced some pretty short nights while I was there, experiencing the midnight sun in Greenland was mind blowing, experiencing epic light as sunrise and sunset blend into one.

Sailing among the giant icebergs felt like sailing at an undiscovered and isolated pocket of the world. As you stand on the boat, camera in hand, freezing cold (yes, even in the summer. It was -10 degrees in the ice fields), staring at your surroundings, you can't help but feeling kind of small and exceptionally lucky to be there, soaking it all in.
